Default Electrical question for knowsalot

Hey Patrick

Thats kinda what I was afraid of, after I posted last night I had got some result for someones 'MSN geocities" website that was stated something like "CT200 ranch bikes" so I opened the page and the bikes looked kinda like late '80s XL's with a little more enduro styling. Oh yeah these people were traveling in Europe or somewhere overthere, so I would say you are correct on them being from Honda networks overseas.

Do you have an opinion on the part number in question 30500-KE4-650 (superceeding 30500-965-000) being an exact replacement or would that mean that the electrical specs and the coil are the same and not necessarily the mounting of the coil itself?

Not quite sure of the whole 'superceeded' thing.

Thanks again
Jeff

Default Electrical question for knowsalot

Hey Jeff.

I made a call to my Parts Tech in Alpharetta today. He said that the CT185 and CT200 could be special ordered by dealers over here back then, but he has no idea if any had been or not for sure. He did say that Europe was where the model was sold, but also said other countries could have gotten it as well....even Canada. He didn't have any information to back this up...but considering what you found yourself, I believe him.

Now...as for the word supercede.
Its just a term used to describe a part that was originally intended for another model...but is a direct replacement for another model as well.
If the number supercedes to another number....it may not look the same, but Honda has verified it as being a part that will work in that application.

If you have your doubts, order it from your local dealer so that just in case a fitment issue comes up, it can be handled properly with a person one on one. You shouldn't be held liable for the purchase if it doesn't work...considering that Honda says that it does work.

Thanks for all your help on this coil issue, I'll order one up and post the results so all of the searching will be worth it to other 200X riders needing a coil (I hate buying used electrical stuff on EBAY)

Thanks again for sharing your knowledge and resources.

Well no such luck with the coil, everyone that has them listed on their websites can't get either because both 30500-965-000 and 30500-KE4-650 have now been discontinued.

I guess its used parts again...bummer
