Why not? The CR head gaskets don't raise the compression all that much. I chose to shave the head down and got my compression up to 250lbs...yes, I run race gas, but the power increase was well worth the $30 to get it done. If I ever want to change it back, I can buy heads on ebay for $10.

As far as the boring question goes, I'm at 100 over right now (due to the 1 million miles on the bike) and my buddy took his out to 120 (his was on purpose). We have had them for years like this and they still go. They haven't melted down yet. The negative is the fact that if they do blow up, then you are SOL with the cylinder.. You gan get another cylinder for $50 on Ebay anyway. Heat is not an issue. I run a 39 PWK with a 60 pilot and 185 main in the summer. Still kicking after 4 years since the last rebuild.

I have a 330 motor also. That has a heat issue. Don't worry about boring out the stock 250.
