Need pic of 4 gallon IMS 250r gas Tank (85-86)

I don't know if this will help, but I have a desert tank on mine. It is not an IMS, however it might give you an idea of what the higher capacity tanks look like. I don't remember who the Mfg. of my tank is, but I think it is either 4 or 4.5 gal. I still have my stock tank, but having the extra juice is like gold and I would never think of changing it back to stock. You can check the picture on my profile or I can email you some too if you want to see more.

thats the IMS. I already got a glimpse of it and am considering just another OEM unit since i know they're all in black now, it overcomes my problem. I needed a black one and IMS had theirs in black but i dont like how the tank scoops arent flush with the tank. im going to rig some kind of deal to carry a seperate tank for the extra gas ill need.

Maybe it would be easier to do something with the fins(modify or use some from a different bike that would look good and be functional) and use the IMS tank. It would be safer than carry extra fuel somewhere else on the bike.

its not the only part of the IMS I dont like. The stock unit is what I'm going to use. ive always been a firm believe in OEM body parts. When it comes to crap fitting and matching lines, nothing beats OEM.
what im going to do about carrying extra gas wont be more dangerous as long as the tank I use is safe. gas isnt dangerous unless its provoked meaning i cant half *** what ever i come up with.

Alright I wont mention IMS anymore. I never figured you to be somone who would half *** anything anyway. From the post and emails from you, I can tell you wouldn't do that. I know what you come up with will be high quaility and safe. I was just playing the devils advocate. Looking at any possible negitives there might be to an auxillary tank setup. Maybe you could market it. I'm sure alot of 2-strokers would love to add fuel capacity without giving up the great look of their bikes by adding an oversized aftermarket tank. Let me know what you come up with. I would be very interested in seeing it and possibly do something similar.
Hope I didn't **** you off.

OK, I know how you feel about that - stuff in bank accounts. I'm just glad I was able to get the few parts when I did, to get my bike running better then it was. I'm happy with it for now, but would love to do more not necessarily go bigger on the engine just upgrade current parts: pipe, silencer, plastics mostly cosmetic except the pipe. It is pretty Fugly though. I'm going to contact FMF and see what they say about the pipe. I think your right about it. I'm going to try and modify it myself for now and get the silencer riding where it should.
