This is the second time that third gear has crapped out on me. Whenever you are in 3rd gear and you give it some throttle, it feels as if your chain is too loose, and skips a couple of teeth. I believe its the 3 little drivers that are slipping out of the milled radius' on the face of the gear. Ive already replaced the stock tranny, and 2 months later, I'm back to where I was with the new one I put in. I've purchased another tranny, but am hesitant to put it in due to the pattern of the third gear going? Whats causing this?Thanks

 

I am curiouse to where you got your tranny from and how much it cost. I have the chance to buy the exact same three wheeler that runs for $150.00 but the tranny is out. It is a guy I work with and we both ride TRX 450r's now. I would like the three wheeler as a second toy for me and maybe for my girlfriend to ride if she can learn how. He said third gear went out and he parked it. Then when he tried to ride it again second gear went out. He seems to think it is just the shifter forks but I want to see what a tranny will cost before I buy it. What other trannys will fit this bike and how readily available are the parts to fix the tranny?

 

I am rebuilding a 200x engine and tranny for 'Gonicguns'. He picked up all the gears and mainshaft he needed off of e-bay for under $20 I think. To rebuild the trans is pretty simple. Personally I would rather rebuilt the one I have VS putting a different used one in. That is of course if it isn't trashed [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img].

 

The first tranny I bought was 175 USD, very expensive, but I really needed it, 2 months later, it was doing it again, clunking in third gear, I've left it like that for 5 years now, this is the tranny I just bought on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT

I have yet to get it installed, I wanted to find out what the problem was first, the shifter forks that came out of the original tranny were in rough shape. Cheers Ryan
