1984 ATC250R General Questions?
1984 ATC250R
I have just purchased this bike.
I tore the motor out and split it to replace all gaskets. Easy work.
I have had the cylinder bored to 72mm or .80 out, and I installed a new Wiesco topend. The bike also has a K&N filter on it.
My questions are as follows:
What is the correct break in procedure?
What is the correct premix ratio? HONDA 2stroke oil Remember its .80 out.
What do I need to do to the carb as far as needle clip position, air screw mix, float level, and jets?
Dose the carb need lots of tuning for such a big bore, and if so where should I start?
I would really like some help with this beast. These are not really my specialty, but I hear they are quite fast and fun.
What should I expect as far as speed?
Any help would be very apprieciated

I had a brand new 84 back in 84. It was the most troublesome bike I have ever owned.
Now that I'm older and wiser(?) I think that it had a leaky case seal somewhere letting air into the motor.
Anyway Honda recomends 20:1 with the gas/oil but that was 20 years ago with their crappy oils. I use 40:1 in all my 2-strokes and only use Torco GP-7.
If I'm really working them at the dunes I'll go to 32:1
