thank you ACFreerider, These are the reasons why i dont and will never admit quads are better than trikes, even if a quad is faster i just like the simplicity of a trike

I no this kid when i let him ride my quad he gets all excited he dont mean all he says. This is his first trike ever too. SCARY.

 

If Banshees are truly weaker now than in the '80s, let's say 40HP now and 386 lbs = 9.65 lbs/HP

The Tecate-3 is at LEAST 40 HP and 280 lbs = 7 lbs/HP

But of course, once you start modding the Banshee, it dominates basically any ATV.

 

pretty interesting thread, (registered to the site just to reply in this thread )

power to weight ratio is in favor of the tecate 3.. but rider can suck at racing.. so theres always gonna be different results.. (stock vs stock)

roostking, i dont think its a matter of one being easier to work on than the other..

 

Im not sure who it was that brought up the maintenance issue. its a 2 stroke, with a banshee its just 2 of everything. And maybe we are talking stock bikes, but I cant remember the last time i saw a stock banshee. Maybe in the show room

well honestly you dont see many completely "stock" bikes out there anyway..

i've seen some 250r 3wheelers and tecates whip the pants off alot of 'piped' banshees..

really hard to compare. i mean any 565cc meth banshee is gonna be damn hard to beat..

but then, think about my future kawasaki Triple motor in my tecate [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]..

 

The old banshees had 45hp and the tecates had 33hp so tecate has .117hp per lb banshee-.116 so the hp/weight is close but tecate has less friction and is more areodynamic.

 

33 HP must have been an 84 Tecate. The 85/86 Tecates were faster than the 85/86 ATC250R, which had 39 HP, so I'm guessing the Tecate had at LEAST 40 HP. The '88 Tecate-4 had 42 HP, which explains why it was so damn fast (76 mph).

 

Well I know a stock T4 has about 42 horses. They've been radared at 77+mph. A 87 T3 would probably have about the same amount of horses but less drag. These Tecates had more power than anyother 2stroke 250cc 3wheeler. They were also the fastest and "race ready" off the showroom floor. I think the Tecate would beat the SHEE in a race. Those banshees have been detuned a lot from the late 1980s. But once you start putting some $$ into that banshee, then you better look out.
