Default YAMAHA TRI-Z 250 engine swap

Hello everyone.

I have just bought a Tri-Z in mint condition but unfortunately without a engine.

I would prefer a 4 stroke of some kind. Does anyone here in this forum know which engine that would fit right in - and if not which engine you would prefer....

Hope for some quick replies

Thanks.

since it was origionally a 2 stroke they only made space for a small engine because 2 strokes are compact, so if you were going witha 4 stroke its not gona be able to be very big.

I know the space is limited - but im not looking for performance at all, just a trike for slow and steep trails. The advantage in choosing a Tti-Z is the suspension-travel, which is pretty long.

In all seriousness, don't waste your time.
If you want a four stroke, get a nice 350X you will be much happier.
If you can't tell by looking that putting a four stroke into a Tri-z frame is not a good idea, this job if over your head anyway.
Sell the Tri-z, buy the X, enjoy riding, don't ruin a perfectly good Tri-Z frame.
Trust me on this one.

When i bought my Tri Z it had a 91 Honda CR250 motor in it. Swingarm bolt fit perfect. There was custom motor mounts but it did work. Dont put a briggs and stratton.

People have put YZ250 motors in before. Just takes some research and a lot of work. At any rate, the YZ motor would be much faster anyway.

old good thread. Now people are shoving 450 and 426's into Tri-Z's. Complete build threads at 3WW
