I HAVE A 1983 ATC 200 I LENT IT TO A FRIEND TO GO HUNTING. (NEVER AGAIN) HE WAS DOING NEUTRAL DROPS AND NOW IT WONT GO. IT SEEMS TO SHIFT THROUGH ALL THE GEARS FINE. IS IT POSSIBLE THAT THE CLUTCH BLEW ON IT? ANY SUGGESTIONS?? THANKS

 

Depends on what kind of nuetral drops he was doing.
Was he standing still, revving the motor and slam into gear?(is that what a friend would do?)
Or was he just holding the shift lever(up or down), revving and releasing?
The first method will wreak the tranny(most likely the shift dogs), the second method is just gonna be tough on the clutch ,chain and tires.
If its sitting in gear, can you push it, to verify that it is in gear? If it wants to push easily with out spinning the motor over...its probably got tranny damage.
Those clutches can take alot of abuse, but the trannys cant. I hope your friend has a good job, and can pay for the damages.

I have a suggestion, punch him in the nose. Take it to a dealer and have it fixed, have the bill sent to him.
