Default carb problem???? HELP!!!

ok i got it to spark and i fired her up it started in four pulls it ran good but there was alot of smoke coming from the exaust could that be because it hasent ran in awile or the rings i had it runnning for awile and it wouldnt stop but it started to clear up but still smoking. anyway when it ran it ran at like half throttle so i tryed adjusting the idle screw and it did nothing and when i turned off the choke it ran higher the screw did nothing what is going on could it be that it has a keyster carb kit in it instead of a kehin they have all the same parts none different should i get the right carb kit or what? and when i shut it off gas comes out of that little hose on the bottom of the bowl witch is the drain plug it shouldnt do that the float is not sticking or anything. need help please?

hey, it sounds like you need a top end, or rings anyway. As for the carb you are right it shoudn't do that try rebuilding it with the right parts.

Default carb problem???? HELP!!!

hi i just found out it hasent ran in 3 years and i put a new cam and gaskets in on the top but i dont think it is the rings because when i read the manual it said to make sure you pour a little bit of oil down the top in were the cam goes so maybe thats why its smoking it might clear up after awile. for the carb i put in all the jets and found out keyster is the same as kehin so all the parts were the same but do you know that gasket were the bowl attachs to the carb i cant get that to go on its new and the oringinal was shapeed as it from age but the new one is a circle? is there any tricks to get it to stay in its spot?

Yeah i had that same problem with the ring its a dumb design they should just make it the shape. I had to use another bowl that i did not take the ring out of. As for your mottor running high, make sure that the throttle isnt suck open some. Also when you put that new carb kit in it did you put a new idle screw in? Also is the IDLE jet the correct size?
