200x carb problems

ok so its my first post and im sure ya'll are tired of people with carb problems eh!!!
well i just bought a 200x and everything seems to be fine with the bike. it is bogging badly in the top rpms of 3rd 4th and 5th. like there is no power at all. i held the throttle at 1/4 in 3rd gear while driving down the road and it would sputter, gain, loss, gain, loss, etc... its not maintaining a constant speed. Althought the guy i bought it from told me it was bored .30 over or .50 i really dont know. the guy he bought it from put a makuni on it and said it ran great with the makuni. the guy i bought it from said he never could get it to run right with the makuni so he put a stock 200x carb on it and i bought it just like that. I do have the makuni, but have no knowledge on where to start with this carb trouble. I was told to put a smaller main jet on the stock carb and see if it leans out a little better.
Should i even mess with the stock carb, or start by putting the makuni on there and mess with it.
please help fellas
Also would i be out of my head if i asked ya'll if you could bolt up a 300ex or 400ex motor on it??

Welcome to the FORUMS! aslo consider a name change. Just joken.
You could have a couple of problems!!!
1. Your top end might need to be rebuilt.
2. Your running too rich and you will need to see what size jet is in your carb and where your needle is set.
Also what kind of exhaust and intake do you have?

exhaust is the stock pipe until you get past the back fender and then there's a test pipe cliped on.
in take is a k&n airfilter.
so can you put a 300ex or 400ex motor on this frame and it will work or not. has anyone ever done it
