82 ATC 110 help needed
#1
Hello all,
I just came in to a 1982 Honda ATC 110 for next to nothing. This is a re-build type project with the kids. BUT I need help.
First: Will a 86 thumb throttle fit in place of the 82 twist type? the twist one is trash?
Second: There is rust in the fuel tank. I read that white vingar will help so I soaked it overnight and alot washed out but there is still more...do I just try to get as much as I can then get a good fuel filter or what?
Thanks in advance for teh help, there will be more qustions coming....

WELCOME TO THE FOURMS!!!
1. Yes. You might need to get a new cable but maybe not.
2. You could put some Nuts/ Rocks/ or anything else inside of the gas tank and slosh it around then that will get most of the rust out. You could also buy some gas tank sealent to put inside and never have to worry about it again. It is always a good idea to put an inline fuel filter on it so you dont get anything in the carb.

battery acid will get rid of the rust, and then viniger and water to neutralize it
it will eat up paint and the rubber as well, so be carefulland remove the pet ****,and plug up the hole with a rag
rocks and nuts will not remove all the rust like acid will /good -safe idea though
the tank will look like new,but you need toclean throughlyand used some kind of lubricant too
keep it from rusting back up ,then rinse the wd40 or what ever u use out before you fill with fuel
its a pain in the arrrrse lol but the rust need to be removed or it will keep rusting even if you coat it /kareem or whatever
check with clark they might make a new tank for it

If it has the 7/8" handlebars, then just about any thumb throttle houseing will work. Check ebay, they are there all the time.
A product called Kreme, which all the dealerships have, is the way to go, if you cant find a new tank. It has an acid, and will get rid of all the rust, and then it comes with the epoxy, for relining the tank. Its a bit of work to do it, but it does work.
Id add the inline filter, even after doing the kreme.
