Hi, On my 1985 200x the kick start gear is slipping. Do you just have to replace the 2 gears behind the cover behind the kickstarter? I look at them they look good no chips or damage. I lined them up on the two punch marks. I also have a spare 84 200x engine but the gears are differant sizes. Anyone know if that is all you have to replace?

 

The two gears are not your problem. You need to replace the kick starter spindle and you have to split the cases to do so.

Would the spindle off a 84 200x engine work. Or should i get a new one. Where can you find them. Bike bandits site said they are disscontinued. Also do you replace both the long and shorter spindle. There are two shown on the slide.

 

You can get the kicker shaft from Service Honda for $33.50

Go to www.partsfish.com They have the spindle for $62 and the shaft for $52.

 

Don't worry about the short shaft or either shaft really. If you are looking at a microfiche or a repair manual you will se the the two peices you need to replace. I can't really explain what the look like. I highly recomend a clymer manul before starting or ordering anything.
