I've had it sitting in the garage for about a year. I went ahead and changed the oil, air filter, spark pug, and clean gas tank out and added new gas. It would not start, so I went ahead and towed it behind the car and it started up , but there was a problem. I could not use the twist throttle at all. The speed stayed at one speed. Do I need to replace the twist throttle? Another thing, when I started to hit on the brakes to get it ready to stop it would start idling real loud. I went ahead and tried to kick start after all of that and nada. I checked the choke and it was good. The gas switch was on. Don't think I left any step out. Any help is appreciated.

I would say that either your throttle cable is locked up or your slide inside the carb. Have you cleaned out the carb??? If not I would say you need to clean your carb out.

Yes, I cleaned the carb out. I went ahead and was checking the throttle and noticed that the wire leading to the twist throttle was loose. Pulled very gently and there she went. So, I'm going to have to wait until I get a new throttle to see if the problem is still there. I would like to say Thank you for your quick response. I'll post an update once I get the throttle.

I replaced the twist throttle. Had to jump start it again. It did the same thing is it did with the old one. Where it starts but it is already stuck at a speed. Then it died out. I don't want to get frustrated, but after having to walk that bad boy all the way up a hill I'm getting to to that point. You said clean out the carb. I did take it apart and sprayed it with the carb cleaner. What step am I missing? Would a carburetor kit help out? I just want to buy another carb and keep my fingers crossed that it will work. Any recommendations on a good carb for the 85 Honda 200x? Any feedback is appreciated.

If you do not have any modification done to your bike the stock carb is actually the best for it. If you go to much bigger then it will just bog out with too much fuel/air.

Had to hook the carb slide in wasn't going all the way down. Now it runs, but it still sounds like it is over revving while driving. When you hold the clutch in is when you really can hear the revving sound.
