Default Oil for 1983 185S three wheeler

yes, i am working on a 185s. I thought that fill hole was for tranny fluid because the fluid in it looked reddish. but after i had drained the oil, i checked the dipstick and it was empty. so my method of trial and error sort of worked (with some help). Thanks s.12345.

would anyone know why the same atc would idle and run alright in 1st, but whenever i shift into 2nd or open the throttle, it dies. also, after running for about 5 minutes, the idle speed bounces up and down until finally dying.

p.s. I just installed a new air filter and cleaned the carb completely.
I am going to purchase a new spark plug and see what happens.

thank you

Most likely you still have some kind of restriction in the carburetor. There are a couple of extra small holes in the carb throat. I usually use a wire from a bread tie to go into these real small holes to be sure they are open..as well as lots of carb cleaner.
