Honda 200X good trikes?
After much work restoring my 83' ATC110 I've decided to off load it. Its fun but just too rough of a ride for my 40+ yr old body not to mention lack of power.
Looking for something more powerful & with full suspension. Found a really nice 86' 200X in mint condition, new tires, custom front and rear luggage racks, rebuilt rear end, bearings, chain, etc. Guy wants $1200 which includes the title.
What do you think? Thoughts? Are the 200X's powerful enough to haul my *** around (170lbs)? Are they reliable? Quck? Pros-cons? I need to keep my price below $1500.
Thanks

The 200X is a GREAT trike!!! In my opinion the 83-85 are better to own because they are easy to get parts for. The 86 has a 6 speed trans so that is a good plus. For $1200 that better be one SHARP looking trike!!!!!! No matter what, that 200X will be about 3 times the power of the 110 you have.

Price is on the high end for an 86 to 87, but worth it is worth it,...in my opinion,..if it is indeed as good of shape as you describe it.
The 86-87 models are more powerful and have an edge in handling over the 83-85 series when in stock condition, but if you end up wanting more power down the road, the 83-85 engine design has more potential...not to mention that those engines are easier to find parts for just as Mike said.

As far as price, I think its a little high. But pretty much any sport atc weather it be a 250r, 350x, 200x, tecate 3, tr-z or whatever....is going to be over-priced. Christ, I cant find a nice liquid cooled 250R for under $2500. As far as performance, it will be sufficient. I mean its gonna feel real fast compared to the 110...especially with the manual clutch. Plus, like other have mentioned, full suspension is nice. Just out of curiosity, have you considered an air cooled 250R? They arent very expensive and will crap on a 200X in performance...plus better suspension.

Great trike! I rode the 83' I had for several years, kept it, and then my daughter rode it for a few more with zero problems. although, I am a maintence freak. Just last year it hauled my buck-90 butt up the hill climb at Gordons Well. I had to work it a bit, but she got me up. As far as cost goes, I just sold mine (pic on my site) for $700. Come to find out though, I was way low! I even had a guy call from Maine! If it that new and super clean.... I think that is what they may go for now?!?!? Good Luck!
