Does it lose spark after it warms up? If it does, your stator is probably going bad. Either that or there is a loose wiring connection or a wire touching to ground sometimes.

there is still spark after... that is what i thought too but it still had spark i did get it going for a bit thought it was bad gas...or plugged carb after that cause it was surging and almost dying dropping idle to almost nothing then picking back up again then ran good for about 15 minutes then it died and i broke the started cord so i had to push it off the beach about 200 yards and parked it on trailer and havent been able to get back to it ...i still looking for ideas now that i put new cord on rewind

If carb is too rich it might do that--check needle setting.

Make sure your gas cap is in the on position. May be plugged or non operational vent. Leave the cap loose and run it and see if it dies. I have had more than one with non operational vent and sprayed WD40 or something along that line in there and turned it to on and off several times to free it up. Just a thought cause thats exactly how it acted.

Here is a problem I found out about a recent 200ATC I bought, when chking for spark with the plug removed, if you get spark while pulling the starter rope , and you get spark try this, pull the starter rope slowly, if no spark you have a bad plug in most cases. a lot of times we would think it is the exicter-magneto.
But have found it was a bad plug . I never seen one like that till this bike,
I think the previous owner only chk the spark while pulling fast on the rope that is why I got it for 130.00 all it took was a new plug... so try that it can act intermittently
