Just picked it up yesterday. Plastic,seat, etc. is NICE, but the exhaust is in pretty bad shape. Who makes the best exhaust? It will need new headpipes as well.

I have a White Brothers head pipe and a DG RCM steel exhaust. I would recommend the WB head pipe but be sure and add some kind of heat shield because they don't come with one and they get HOT. I don't care for the exhaust because it is too loud(like many of them.) I am trying to find out if SuperTrapp makes an EAR(Environmental Acoustics Reduction) for the 350X because they are supposed to be close to stock noise levels.

I HAVE OWNED A COUPLE OF 350X'S AND 3 200X'S.
THERE IS NOBODY THAT KNOWS ATC 4-STROKES BETTER
THAN CURTIS SPARKS OF CURTIS SPARKS RACING.
I HONESTLY HAD A MODIFIED 200X,THAT I BOUGHT, THAT TOP END WOULD RUN BESIDE A TRI-Z(AROUND 60-65 MPH). IT HAD CURTIS SPARKS HEAD AND FULL EXHAUST(AND A COUPLE OTHER MODS). I BELIEVE CURTIS SPARKS HAS A LINK ON THIS WEB SITE. HOPE THIS HELPS

Cool. I'll check it out. I was also wondering if installing a bigger cam would make much difference on a stock motor?

I KNOW THAT BACK IN THE THREEWHEELER DAYS THERE WERE TWO KINDS OF PERFORMANCE CAMS A HIGH TORQUE(LOW END) AND A HIGH REV(TOP END) DEPENDING ON WHERE YOU WANTED THE POWER. ALTHOUGH THERE WERE IMPRESSIVE GAINS IN THE AREA YOU WANTED. THEY WOULD ALSO TAKE A WAY A NOTICEABLE BIT OF POWER AWAY FROM THE OTHER END. BUT THIS WAS MAINLY IN THE 200X BECAUSE THE 350X CAME IN THE LATE YEARS AND NOT AS MANY RACING VERSIONS WERE PUT TOGETHER.
FROM MY EXPERIENCES WITH THE 350X, SINCE IT IS A 6 SPEED BUY A HIGH TORQUE CAM AND A GOOD MID TO TOP RANGE EXHAUST. YOU WILL EASILY BE ABLE TO SMOKE THE 2 STROKES. ANOTHER CHEAP HORSEPOWER GAIN WOULD BE TO HAVE THE HEAD MILLED A FEW THOUSANTHS, BUT DON'T GO TOO FAR OR YOU WILL HAVE TO PUT SPACERS UNDER YOUR SPARK PLUG. YOU CAN GET
THE INTAKE PORTED BUT NOT MUCH, AND DO NOT POLISH IT. THE EXHAUST CAN HANDLE A GOOD PORT AND POLISH.
IF YOU WANT TO GO ALL THE WAY GO HAVE IT STROKED, BUT DON'T WORRY MUCH ABOUT BORING BECAUSE IF YOU GO TOO MUCH AND SOMETHING GOES WRONG IT WILL COST YOU. BACK TO THE CAM BUY A DIRTWHEELES MAGAZINE AND LOOK IN THE BACK AT ALL OF THEIR ADVERTIZEMENTS. I KNOW I SEEN AN AD FOR CUSTOM MADE CAMS. AND IF YOU PORT AND POLISH DON'T LET ANYONE OVERCHARGE YOU BECAUSE IT IS A CHEAP PROCESS. GIVE ME A CALL AND I'LL MAKE SURE IT GETS DONE CHEAP.HOPE THIS HELPS!

I emailed Sparks Racing about a 350X exhaust...guess how much? $425!!!!!!

That is custom made and ceramic coated. I'm waiting to hear back if I can get one w/o the coating! DAMN, I didn't think it would be that high! Anyone have any experience with a Cobra Jet exhaust? They are selling for around $150 which is closer to my price range.

Cobra exhausts are VERY LOUD. If thats no consern, I think they are ok. The sparks would be better quality tho.

Two friends of mine both have 350Xs equipped with the Cobra and they haul much a$$! Also they aren't too bad loud. As for smoking two-stokes, maybe. They had alot of mods on theirs but they weren't strong enough to run away from me on my 500r. But they were still pretty stout with the pipe, piston and overbore. It depends on what you're willing to spend.

By the way, if you don't mind me asking, how much did you give for that jewel? I ask because I've got another buddy looking for one. Like to know about what they're going for. Two years ago my friend got one $1,200.00 in good shape.
