I have a 1979 Honda ATC 100CC Trike. It has been sitting for over 10 years.. yes, ten years... When I opened the gas tank I dicovered some rust/growth, whatever.. I since changed out the gastank, replaced the fuel lines, changed the oil and did a light once over.. I check the spark plug and it get a good blue spark when near the head.. so I assume it is good.. the engine turns over, but does not start.. is there anything else I should check.. I am not a small engine specialist.. but I can manage any help would be great!..

You dont need a new carb , just need to clean the one you got. Get some carb cleaner in a spray can. Carefully take the carb completely apart and spray carb cleaner thru every hole you can find. Compressed air will help blow out some of the holes too. It will help to get a breakdown of the carb when its apart, like in a manual or even online at a parts place. That way you can get it back together easier.

You can get a new carb for $45 from www.dratv.com. Or you can rebuild the current one you have for $15 rebuild kit.
I've got the same issue with both of the 3 110s that I just picked up. One runs, but not very well. I know that it has a carb issue. For me, it is a no brainer...new is better than rebuilt and for only $30 difference, I'm going to get new. That way, I know I won't miss anything.
If you do plan on rebuilding yours...just be careful when you take it apart and you put it back together exactly how it came apart. Lots of small pieces that all look the same in there. Good luck and let us know if you get it running!

Ok, an update..
I tried the carb cleaner in the spark plug and it started first pull and then stalled in 2 seconds.. I then gutting the carb.. it WAS cruddy and the gas filter was clogged.. I took it apart cleaned each piece.. it needed it.. and put it back together .. made sure gas was getting into the system.. but it still will not start.. any other ideas? it will start ( for a sec) if you put carb cleaner in the spark plug

If this was your first carb cleaning/ overhaul. I would say you still got a hole or 2 plugged. There are small holes in the side of the pilot jet. the longer brass jet in the carb and very small holes going thru it also.. I usually hold the jet up to a light and make sure I can see thru it. Also need to make sure the float is level.

mywifesquad is right. No need buy new when the original can work just as good. You make sure both jets are completely cleaned out (even the small holes that go across the bottom and you will have a running bike. Anytime you can spray starting fluid in a bike and it starts then kills is obviously a fuel issue. Best of luck.
