84 Honda 200X Rear axle bearings
Great site.....I picked up my first 3-wheeler last week, I have always owned four wheelers from the time I was 10 or so. I picked this up just because I wanted to try one out and it also be a ride and a project at the same time. I believe its an 84, the motor needs new rings, but everything else is in decent(kind of rough) shape. My first project before i do the rings, is to replace the rear axle bearings. The left side bearing is SHOT, the trike actually sits crooked. I am sure the prior owner rode (tried) it for a while with them shot. My main questions are is it extremly hard to replace the bearings? I replaced them years and years ago in a honda 250X atv that I had and to be honest not sure I want to do them again if they are as difficult...if I remember it was a pain in the butt. I wouldn't mind the work but if someone can tell me the rough steps i might decide to pay someone a couple of bucks to do it to save time. I only paid $200 for the trike(kicka$$) deal in my opinion.....any help would be appreciated!

the bearings are not to difficult to re place, but you can run into problems if parts are rusted on, the best way around it is to completly remove the back axle from the frame and take it appart in sections laying them out in a line in the order they go back together if you are unsure try to get a breakdown from honda or a repair manual :
tip: must have tools for siezed parts:
good heat ie. blow torch
and penatrating oil . WD40

Thanks for the information, thats what my plan was to take it apart easy and lay them out as i took them off. It was about 10 yrs ago last time I did it and for some reason I was thinking there was something that needed to be pressed in....I am sure I was thinking about something else. Well this will be my weekend project, now I gues onto another question. I will start another topic.....after reading this site, i didn't realize that trikes had such passionate owners. Granted I knew the decent trikes for sale got a decent amount of money for them when sold.

The axle bearings are pretty easy, its the swingarm bearings that can be tough. Might want to check them too since you are taking it apart. Remember the axle nuts are reverse thread and please dont scar everything up with pipe wrenches like most people do. I've used "All *****" bearings in everything and like them a lot. Check out 3wheeler.org, "dads" sells them, his price is good.
