Hi All, I am attempting to install the front rack off a 1984 200m on a 1983 185s. They both have the telescopic forks. I was not able to see the rack installed on the 200m so I am not 100% certain how it goes on. I do have all the hardware and brackets but it seems my headlight is in the way & it does not really line up with anything. I was under the impression that the front forks were the same because my friend has a 1985 200s & it's front forks are identical to my 1983 185s. Is the 200m completely different or am I just overlooking something? If it is different does anyone know of a way to make it work & keep the headlight? Any help or input would be great....thanks! Also if anyone has a picture of the rack installed would also help, thanks again!

 

You sure it was from a 200M, not a 200E or 200ES? You are right that the M and S use the same forks, but the M didn't come with a front rack. The 200E and 200ES did, but they have different forks than the M. I need a front rack for a 200E if you want to sell it.

 

I bought it used from a guy who told me it came off a 200m so I am just taking his word. It could very well have been from a 200e or 200es, I did not see the machine. Or maybe it did come from a 200m & he had something modified on it to make it fit. I am going to my marina with it next week. The mechanic there says he can weld me an adapter bracket to make it work. I'll see how it goes, if that does not work then yes, it will be for sale.
