82' Honda ATC110 * What is proper shifting *
I like to Ice Fish...
I don't like to walk miles on end...
So Sunday I searched CraigsList and found a sweet ATC110 for $350 and let me tell ya it runs Perfect..
On to my question....
Proper shifting is run out the gear 75% let off throttle switch gears into second 75% let off throttle shift into 3rd and so on.......
But what about down shifting ????
Can I just go from 4,3,2 when I'm coasting down rather then using the breaks ?
I have never owned anything remotely similar to this automatic/manual minus the clutch lever setup before
And the 15 minutes Ive ridden it, 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th gear do not have separate neutrals correct ?
Thanks...

Welcome! Yes you can down shift,BUT let the rpms drop a little between down shifts.NO neutral between gears! Worked on a bunch of these over the years. If you just it got I would change the oil(if hasn't been done) so the wet clutch doesn't take a beating. Think they take 10-40? or they may even say straight 30 wt?(just don't use car oil on the wet clutch!) Should say quantity, and oil type by the dip stick if I remember correctly. Just be careful going from soft dirt to hard pack, 3 wheelers can get a little squirrely on the steering! OPT
