I am completely restoring my 1985 350x and I was wondering how I could polish up the front forks? Will aluminum rim polish work? Or is there something out there that is allot better?

Thanks for any input.

Mother's Alum. wheel polish and the Honda Chrome polish both work well for polishing forks.

I had a ATC250R a few years back that I did with the Honda polish and an electric buffer. Shined like a mirror. Just be sure to keep it clean after you polish it.

Also, after you polish it, be sure to wipe down your forks with a dry cloth after everytime you wash it. Most tap water will stain your forks if left set up for long periods of time. It will leave salty deposits on there. Especially if your water system has "hard" water.

Thanks for the info. I will have to get some of that. The chrome part of the forks are fine, but the aluminum parts need some buffing. I don't have a buffer though, but maybe I can find a buffing pad or wheel for my drill.

Thanks again.

Take the front wheel off along with the brakes. Tear a good bath towel into long strips(2ft.)put the "Mothers"directly on the forks, then take your rag and "GO TO TOWN"on them. with a "shoe shine" motion the mothers will start turning black(this is good), keep adding mothers and keep polishing, then buff off the(black stuff)with a good clean towel.WALLA.

Thanks Biggerisbetter. That sounds like something that I can definitely do.
