There is another Mud Bog race coming up in southern Minnesota, it is in Hayward, on Saturday July 12th, I believe they are going to try to run a double elimination, side by side mud drag...there are 2 X 4, 4 X 4 stock tires, 4 X 4 mod tires, & powder puff classes... If I can get anyone more info, let me know ...WAM

SNOWBUSTER.... if the east coast ATV racing scene is at all like it is here in the midwest, you'll be welcomed in with what ever you ride... most racers like to strip as much weight off their quads as possible... so bumpers or no bumpers would be fine.... in the utility class hare scrambles around here, most often the top quads are the 650 Prairie's, 660 Grizzly's, 650 Rincons, etc... but the bread & butter Foreman's & the Ranchers quite often place in the top 3 - 4 places, depending on the course...quite often the races depend more on a drivers finesse & skill, than the quads top speed...on another forum, someone listed an east coast racing association, that you could contact...I'll look for it, & try to post it here...Have A Good One...WAM

thanks a lot newbeatle, that infomation really gave me more of a sence of what it involves and an idea of what should be or needs to be done in order to get started. however this will not happen too soon. with my lifestyle it might take several years. one thing being im only 15, but i have what i need to do such a thing. thanks again.

Snowbuster,
You probably will have to wait until your 16 to race anything over 90cc. That's what they try to stick to here. And here I've seen them put the younger guys (16-18?) in a Junior class. That class is usually full of sport quads, though. The Rancher does pretty well in races. It's mostly rider ability, but it's pretty hard to beat the big ones...they have so much more suspension and speed...it depends on the track, too. The track I've raced on here has a few straight-aways where they blow right by the Rancher. If nothing else you can get some experience. The Rancher does pretty well jumping....just a little hard on the body with the stock suspension. Hope you have fun racing some day.
Newbeetle,
Nice meeting you Saturday. Did you guys have fun at the park?

ATVGURL...It was good to meet you & you husband at the River View... we had a blast, my wife really likes to ride, as we had our pooch with, we hooked up with Brian & a few of the other locals for a trail ride around the park... The dog rode with me... it was challenging enough following everyone, driving with one hand... good practice... I'll be installing a twist throttle on my 650 this week.. might make riding with the dog harder, but long Hare Scramble races easier... I ended up destroying my belt, just before we left ( practicing on the MX section ), I knew it was bad, just too cheap to replace it before... I'm glad it happened down there, rather than during a race... Have A Good One... see you guys at Fort Dodge next month... WAM

thanks ATVgurl, that info can really help me, some day.I know how the rancher jumps. ive done some of dirt piles in my back yard and frozen snow banks in the winter and other littler things here and there. and riding any utility is mostly rider ability, utilities aren’t know for sporty ness. so it really comes down to the rider. i do think with experience i will be able to do good, right from the start of riding atvs it was kinda "in my blood". i do expect after a couple of months i might be beating other 350 utilities but not any rappys or Z's, or anything sport for that matter lol.
