I am trying to understand how you can sandbag when drag racing, I race against a guy who usually always wins, The track officials say that he is a real bad sandbagger, I have seen him run 4.80 at other events but he always dial in at 5.40 at our track, How do I beat a sand bagger

Just run your time and have a good reaction time and it won't matter. If you run right on your time and he tries to sandbag he'll have to breakout to beat you.

I still dont understand how sandbagging works, Thats the purpose of a dial in time, how is he winning all of the time sandbagging, I always dial in around 5.17 and he knows it, is there any way I can use this to my advantage to beat him at his own game?

How close do you run to that time. What he's doing is taking off first since you have a quicker et dial and when he gets toward the end, if you or anyone else isn't close to him, he's on the brake allowing him to not brake out. He's putting the pressure on you to cut a good light and run your time, it doesn't leave you much margin for error. That's why if you run close enough to your time and cut a good light, he'll have to break out to beat you. What are your reaction times, pro or full tree? What's the time brake for your class, I imagine your one of the fastest in your class. What kind of setup do you have, that is flying 5.17?

The class I run is Pro 4, it's 4.80 to 5.40, so if he is expecting me to dial in at 5.17 and I dial in at 5.40 like he does, will that throw him off enough to make him brake out or will it be worse for me?

You can try that, but you'll have to get on the brake as well so you don't brake out. It'll be funny anyway, dial the 5.4 leave him in the dust and when he comes fly up, hit the brakes and hopefully you won't break out. With him being .3 faster, I'd say he has the better chance of breaking out. That guy must be a punk.

When drag racing everyone is suposed to run as fast as you can and then use that time as a dial in time, if you go faster than your dial in time during a race you will breakout and loose, But this guy can run faster than his dial in time and he uses the other guy's dial in time to his advantage, Thats why I think that if I dial in at a higher time without him knowing it it could make him break out of his dial in time.

Let me know what happens change your dial and give it a whirl, hard to beat a cheater at his own game though. I'd like to be there to see it.
