Default need help with jumping

There is not one jump that is the same and actually every lap each jump changes , at least on a bike course. There was a place I used to
race in Michigan thats been crushed by a damn Target . Anyway everything changed daily there .

Take a day that you can stick to one section of the course at a time . If there is always riders there then try first thing in the morning or
ask how much it would be to get personal track time for a couple of hours. Then you can pretty much jump each jump as many times in a row with out having to do the whole course . With doing that then you will get the feel of body position for each jump and which line is best for you. Keep
in mind that your line might not always be available . So make sure you jump each jump in as many different lines as possible so you know what
to expect if someone steals your line.

Again , I am only giving info of experience on a mx bike course. Don't know if quads use the same scenario. My quad will implode on a
mx course cause its not set up for mx , my body isn't set up right ether. lol

Honda just came out with what you need. They came out with bolt on hover quad technology for the new trx450. It is supposed to cure all jumping problems because when driving it , you are actually 4-5 inches off of the gound so you don't feel those pesty little kickers. It also helps you clear much bigger gaps! Lets just say currently you can clear a 100' gap, you now can clear a 300+ footer. I heard that after market parts include detachable wings! I am being totally serious. But if for some reason you can't come up with something similar just let someone else jump it first and then ask them what gear they hit it in, if they pulled back hard or not & if they prelaoded or not. Then take the info they gave you and just try your hardest to do the same thing.
Good luck!

Default need help with jumping

i can show you how to do a no hander (and no quad lander ) jump. lol busted the old buttocks last weekend. first off, if you nose diving over a jump then you need to give it more gas. either bump the throttle going over the jump or keep a steady throttle going over the jump. sometimes you will get scared and let off the gas while going over a jump and not even know it. usually if it's a large faced jump, you will keep a steady throttle, if it's a short steep jump you will hit the gas pretty hard just before going over the jump. a short steep jump will kick you rear end up and cause you to go over the handle bars and do a nose dive. every jump is different, jump a jump several times back to back until you get the feel of what the jump is going to cause your bike to do. if a jump is throwing your bike's nose up in the air, try less throttle on the jump and lean forward on the quad a little. but like i said every jump is different. i busted my butt on a jump i should not have tried to triple. i could double it easy in 3rd gear, but the jump kicked my rearend up and i nosed dived every time. after getting a good feeling for the jump, i applied more throttle while going over the jump and was able to make my bike land on all four tires level. no problem until i tried to triple it. 4th gear 3/4 throttle, hit the gas hard on the jump and bamm, over the handle bars and do a no quad lander (after a 8 foot drop) with the quad doing a flip and landing beside me. problem was i did not have enough power to over come the extra speed that i needed to clear the triple. while i was waiting the the guys to load my quad up for me, they said no one had jumped that triple even on a motorcycle because the jump had a bad kick. point is just because you can double a tricky jump does n't mean you can triple it. try to stick with the jumps that throw you smooth and level.

What kind of bike you are riding will also change throttle application on the face of the jump. IE if you are on a two stroke, you can carry more speed and momentum to a jump and not have to ride the throttle all the way up the face. However, four strokes have more engine compression which slows you down more causing you to nose dive if you are "coasting" to the jump. I find on my Raptor the longer I stay in the throttle, the better. But my lighter two stroke allows a bit more flexibility. The same is true in cornering.

Hit every single jump on the throttle and stand and lean over the handlbars of the quad. That's what I do and it seems to work pretty good. It's alot less scary when you are hitting a jump standing up and stradaling the gas tank leaning foward as far as you can.
