Default need help with jumping

when i race my friends in the woods, i can beat them every time or a very close finish but the only thing thats holding me back from actually racing on tracks is jumping. Its not that i'm scared or ne thing but some jumps, i can just ride off and land fine, and then others, i have to blip the throttle or i flip forward. can someone help me out with some information?

you need some preload as your about to go off the jump, lean back a little and pull real hard on the handlebars..i always preload and hit the gas, sometimes come straight up

If you get into cross country or Hare Scrambles, you don't necessarily need to know how to jump. It might gain you some time in any mx sections, but many people in my district roll the jumps, and even the great guys start out jumping, but roll towards the end as they get tired. Try racing, just for fun the first couple times, and see how you like it!!

on my warrior, i could jump normal and land on all fours, back, front, where ever i wanted but i just got a z and i guess i'm still getting used to the power difference but i jump the same as i did on my warrior by pulling up and bliping the throttle at the top of the jump and i always land way way back on my back wheels so what i'm going to try is just giving a steady increasing throttle when i start at the base of the jump and pull and lean back so it feals right. do u think that will work or will i have the same results.

It sounds to me like you're used to a heavy bike with a heavy front end. The Z is a bike designed for more input from the rider on the face of the jump and in the air. I would practice small movements in the air on a big table top to get used to it. For example, try turning the bars left and right, then shifting your weight sideways, then back and forth on the bike. You can also apply the brakes to level out if you are back end heavy, and gas to bring the back down. Just start with small movements on small jumps and gradually progress. The Z is a light bike and you should be able to master it's mobility in the air in no time. Good luck!

Hey, Raptor149. That's really good advice. I'm just learning how to race and I can't get the jumps down. Some of the hills that I try to jump I end up nose diving, but some hills I can get a really jump off of...I just don't get it. I practice at a track that has quite a few different types of hills and a few table tops. I can jump really well on the tabletops with a soft landing, but some of the steeper hills, like the first hill of a double, I nose dive. I want to try to land the doubles but I'm thinking it'd be hard to handle the quad in the air since I'm pretty light. What do you guys think? I printed off the link that FsT4WrD said to try and I'm going to read up on that tonight. Thanks! (Didn't mean to hijack your thread warrior350cntuch)

Mindi , I think its easier to fix a nose dive then a 1 o'clock air wheelie . I wish jumping a quad was as easy as a bike . I have noticed that 3rd gear jumps give you no time at all to over power the quad when your a light weight . I jump dunes most of the time and found that 4th pinned gives you enough soar time to have total control over the landing . Depending on the lip I will pin the throttle till my fronts are off then its clutch and brake
for 1 o'clock wheelie or no clutch , gas , and leaning back for nose dives . If your going up the jump a little sideways and it puts you in a roll you have to push down on one foot and pull up on opposite hand . Vise versa depending on roll . Once you get used to controlling all of that , most of your jumps you will know right at take off if any steps apply , if they dont then you can pretty much focus on tricks or whats ahead after the landing.

After a day of doing non-stop jumping when your elbows , knees , and ankles are soar you will have it mastered until the next jump which maybe
bigger or smaller .
