#1
I am just getting into flat track racing ,and I would like to know if any one knows if any manufacturers make a flat track front tire that is cheaper than the hoosier or american racer. If any one can help it would be great. Thanks

I am going to get into TT racing myself, a bunch of us here in arizona anyways, are working on setting up something up.
I did some research on the web and found this site that sells TT tires for quad. I really dont even know what brand this is. I emailed them for different sizes.... Let you know what I find....

i'm considering doing some indoor FT/TT this winter. i've been told for that type terrain (packed dirt) a set of holeshots, turf tamers, or other low profile mx tire work OK. because it's not clay, you don't need the hoosier or am racer tires... if you're on clay then those tires provide the best hook-up. i've seen some 'duro' 18x11x8 tires (model HF245) in a dennis kirk catalog for $41 /ea. it says they're designed to slide like a FT tire... but i have no clue how they'd perform on a track.

Duro makes tires for quarter sprints which run on dirt tracks. If you can find tires in your size they should work fine. I looked at them when I was shoping for TT tires, but they didn't have the sizes I was looking for.

I have the duro tires on the back and they do real good. I ran a set of used hoosiers and the duro's are almost as good. But they don't make any for the front. So I guess it looks like I'm going to have to buy the american racers for the front.

guys i have been racing shorttrack for 3 years on the same set of tires and i win more and more every year.if you race on clay the american racer is the best tire out there,IMO.
the hoosiers are allright but i couldn't get my times on the ovals as low as i could with the american racers.

Dual-sporter,where are you thinking of racing?
On the indoor track (compacted topsoil) we are running moto-cross grooved radials. I took one tire off the wheel when I got it and turned it around. That way both smooth edges are on the out side and they do a good job. For less than $200 i got a front kit.

I heard of a Druo tire around 40.00 each that was an OK tire. I run an MX gorrved radial as well and they do pretty good. I will eventually get Am racers .. I tried out Hoosier last wk end and they were awesome. Especailly after using Turf Tamers on Groove.......not good........ LOL>...... TINA
