Default TT racing what fun!

This last weekend we finished off the last 2 races (9 & 10) of a 10 race TT series. Overall my son ended up taking 1st in the 80cc class and 2 in the 90cc class!!! I knew a decent amount about LT80's when we started, but have also learn even more over the last 5-6 months from people on this forum, competitors (friends at the track) and various mini motor builders. It was a blast traveling and racing with my son. We had our mechanical ups and downs, headaches with the LT, but over all it was/is a good solid dependable machine even when heavily modified. With good proper maintenance we got through the season with out any major component failures.

Now if we could get you some go-kart rear tires and get it setup for TT racing.

I don't think the Go Kart tires will work out here, aren't they smooth IE: non aggressive? I've believe I've only seen
one person running them so far. Out here 98% of our tracks are loose/loamy tracks were the knobbies seems to work
well. So far I think their was only one time that a track (San Jose) was smoothe/blue grooved this year. During that race
some guys ran their American Racers (hooser copies) and had good luck. They tried them on the loose/loamy tracks, but
they just seem to buzz their tires and so switched back to knobbies (snow hogs). You mentioned "getting it setup for
TT" What else do you think I need??????

yes, tting/flattrack is the thinking mans race...looking at the track, thinking of what it might do...then as you are lined up for the final, made all of the right changes, they water the track!! all the mx guys think tt is for wussies. they are only half right. anyone can go get a arms, shocks and an axle, and if they are a good rider thats in shape they will do good in mx. not in tt. a pound or 2 difference in air pressure will upset the whole chassis.

ps check out my photo gallery for some cool tt pics.

Iceracer65:

I know what your saying...... When I raced stock cars (dirt track), we would go out for our main event with a dry track. They then would water the track, and It would be "slick as Hel?"). We would say ... it was like riding on ice... (didn't really know ... just what we thought) for about 8 laps, then it would change to good traction for 3-4 labs and then it was back to "dry slick" for the rest of the race. Picking an air pressure setting was real tough based on the extreme changes we dealt with in such a short change/time frame. I believe those types of changes or experience's have helped me in setting up air pressure for my son.

OH YEAH GO FAST TURN LEFT..............or right We run flattrack & LOVE IT!! KNow what your saying about watering the track I hate when that happens LOL, we did run 1 TT practice & it was fun, we were set up for flattrack only though & they had a pretty good sized table top & I was bottoming out on it OOPPPSSS but I think I'll run some more next year but not lower it so much!!
And you KNOW them MX peeps don't get going THAT fast into a turn either It'd probably scare some of them slinging it into a turn like that!!
