12 Hour Race/Ft Dodge IA
#1
As many of you are aware,John Pellan has pulled the 12 hour out of Ft Dodge Iowa and taken it to PA. Sort of sucks that a race of that size is going east thus snubbing the west coast riders. Good news is I have been on the phone tonight with several key people and we are working on setting up an event/race in Ft Dodge. This race will be like no other event...we have a lot of ideas from 12 hour to 250 mile to even a 500 mile that is spread across the country side between towns... Over the next couple of weeks we will be getting together and pooling our resources so please tell us what sort of race you would like to see us put together. Also spread the word to other forums you may visit that something big is taking the place of the 12 hour... Thanks Friends!

I think a baja type race may be a good idea, it could possibly attract some big names to Iowa that the 12 hour didn't, like Temecula, Duncan, maybe some others who race the southwest would like a change of scenery and climate. I also would like to see a GNC TT back in this area again.
By the way what ever become of the riding area that was being built near Fort Dodge, is it opening soon?

I think a few others would like to see more west coast riders come out and give Iowa try. We have recruited one of the best promotors in ATV Hare Scrambles, we have a core group of people who were key members in setting up the 12 hour and another person who is well connected in the media world. Our hope is to have an event that will attract all riders, it will be different, entertaining and all around great event...Stay tuned and make sure to tell you friends, post on other forums that what we are working on is going to be good...I'm a fun guy and I like fun events...
I'm told the park is close to being openned. All the key things are done and it's just a matter of crossing a few t's and dotting some i's and Ft Dodge will have one of the best ATV parks in the nation.

it's hard to believe they could actually link up a course between towns to make a long race like they do at baja, but if they can do that, it would definitely be cool... keep us informed.
before they moved the 12 hour race, i was considering talking with some local guys about going.... PA is a bit too far for me & most others around here.

Yea, it must suck to see it go.
All I can say is good luck in making another race. Especially town to town.I think you will run into a mountain of legalitys.
I'm sure JP didn't move it to snub anybody.

Might as well rename the race 12 Hrs of the East Coast. The Iowa crew and the state is very resourceful with ATV racing. Not sure if there are too many behind the scenes problems or what, but this is gonna be a crock. Sounds to me like a great time for Andy Kyner and crew to do what they do best, create and promote a race. Keeping the race centrally located, keeps it accessible to many additional racers/teams.
Hmmm, not sure if all the podiums by all the midwest riders has Pellen and crew trying to "protect" some "pet" buddies/racers. Seems the Iowa area went way out of their way to make everyone feel at home. I'd do like the others suggested and "link" up a few areas and really make it a cross-country race. Keeping a fall classice alive to let racers/teams celebrate the fellowship of ATV racing.
Just a little bit of pot-stirring.
