Snowmobile motor powered drag quad-Any one built one?
#1
My kid is getting ready to move up the ladder and I would like to build him a rigid frame sand drag racer. Has anyone built or own one? Any ideas would be great, I would like it to be an automatic tranny, like a asnowmobile engine or something.

Alot of power in a snowmobile engine. Don't know how old your kid is but I would not let anyone under the age 20 on mine. I have lots of pictures of the build. PM me if you would like to see them. There is a few in my profile page. Good luck. I have been running mine at the asphalt dragstrip. 1/8 mile upper 7s 80 mph. Planing to race tomorrow hoping to break into 90mph range.

These are 300ft sand drags probably 50 to 60 mph tops.I want to start building it for next season as that is the style of quad that is ran in the next age group(junior mod).

Im gettin ready to build one but im not old enough to race it until next year(ill b 16).Ive seen some snowmobile powered quads run and with a stock 600 they will run high 4s or low 5s in 300 ft.Ive raced one my buddy built and it would have liked to rip my arms off.i am planning on gettin at least a 600 enginge into a custom yukon 150 frame.Itll b pretty light. How old is you kid?I was told not to make one this fast at my age by several people who own them but i have been riding since i was about 2 years old.And racin since about 10 so i have some good experience under me.Ive been racin an 03 preddy 600 piped nos and about everything for this year so im hopin that i can handle this new quad.Jeff

He has been riding since he was 2 and a half and non sanctioned drag racing since 5 and sanctioned since 8 and is now ten. I dont think it will be a problem power wise because he won't be full throttle. I plan on only giving him 1/3 to 1/2 throttle.
