thumbs over twist
#1
I cannot believe how many of the top pros are using thumb throttles.
I knew a vast majority of the woods guys were using them, but I was amazed to learn that almost ALL of the MX guys are using them too.
I wonder if the 4-strokes had something to do with it because it seems to have happened in recent years. I never saw a 250R racing MX with a thumb throttle. Or maybe it's the fact that the guys now are still young enough to have grown up with thumb throttles?
Guys winning national MX races with thumb throttles, and electric starters...... boy have things changed.

Travis Spader is the last pro I know of to use a twist. Every pro #1 (cept Spader) has used a thumb since I been attending the nationals (1996).
Twists are dangerous for MX AND slower for most riders. It's a matter of landing and hanging on.You get squirrely and hang onto a twist and "things happen".
Angela "finally" went back to a thumb throttle and got dramatic results in corner speed.
