Mini ATV racing. Which brand is best?
#1
I am looking to buy my kids a 80 or 90 ATV to start . I would like to get them into racing also. I have had a hard time finding solid info on them.
I am in California so I need it to be Green Sticker legal. Unfortunitly there isn't really any mini ATV racing in Nor-Cal like there is in So-Cal. I would realy like experienced info, to help me choose one.
Thanks

If you want to spend some money heres one http://www.swsupermini.com/ecx70spec.htm If not, a honda 90 or or e-ton or other like models have hop-up potential.

The new AASCO's or Extreme Typhoon Is prolly where I'd look. Both are fairly priced and have goodies only dreamed of a cpl years ago. (Approx 3-4k)
Cobra if you have way too much money. (6k+)

If you are looking at doing flat track (TT) quad racing check out www.cmaracing.com. They have series throughout central CA almost year round. You can also check out www.mutantmotorsports.com for some limited MX quad racing in CA as well. We've done both and have had a blast. MX quad racing in CA isn't as popular as it is back east (unfortunatly).
As far as green stickers go for mini's, I've found the LT's, Polaris, and Kasea's are all RED stickered in CA from 04 on. The way it was explained to me by my motor builder was the manufactures of them didn't feel it was worth their financial efforts to get the mini quads CA exempted for Green stickers. I'm in this boat with my Polaris 90 with the DMV.
I know a few people from the CMA series that have 50's-90 cc quads for sale from time to time so drop me a PM if your interested and I'll try and put you in touch directly with them.
As LT80 stated, the Cobra shifter is currently the quad to buy IMOA if you have the $$$ because out of the box it comes with alot of stuff us other dads have had to try and find to get our mini's race ready. If you havn't see it yet check out the Huevos 8 video on what that little thing can do.

If you are flat track/TT racing, the LT80 is a great option.

I RIDE MX so that is what I would like to get my son into.
Thanks for all of the input, it is very much appreciated.
I bought a 2005 trx90 yesterday. It is in new shape only ridden 5 times. I couldn't have beaten this deal at all.
$1200.00 .
