This are the min. requirements. Quad-nerf bars and kill swicth. Rider-helmet, goggles, gloves, long pants, long sleeve shirt, boots- a good pair of work boots will be okay if you don't have race boots. You can get this things at the track at sign up-ATVA memebership, District 14 memebership, both good for 1 year. Then if you realy like it you can look at some of the top riders quads and see where you can spend about 6000.00 more dollars on mods. But you can have a lot of fun still with out spending a lot of money. Hope this helps and if I can help answer any other questions just ask I raced in MI. for about 8 years.

Yes that is at the Nationals, but not at the local races. They will in the coming years. There is one trials race up north that they might check sound levels, but not at the MX races. In the future we will all have to be below 102db and soon 96db. If you race the GNC at Redbud you need to be 102db.

You be all right at the local D-14 at Redbud race, just not at the GNC, and I've heard they haven't been checking all the AM. racer's at there races so maybe you could get lucky. My next pipe will be something with a quiet core and down to 96 db.
