I havnt heard of any troubles with the kawi either...Everyone is just skiddish to buy one because its a brand new model. Buy a company that hasnt made their own sport quad since like 1988. Me personally I'd buy the kawi as long as I got like atleast a 2 year warrenty. I would take care of it, do all the necessary maintance and it should be a good preforming bike.
only time will tell if kawi did a good job. They had a good teacher(zuki) and have been making motors for a looooooooong *** time(my 1974 arctic cat sled has a kawi engine in it ) and Im pretty sure kawi wouldnt just throw some bike together without being sure its going to compete with the rest(loooots of competition too, so it should be a very good bike IMO.
