2001 Dakar is at halfway point today (10 of 20 stages), 3 quads in it this year: DS650, Raptor, and Machacek is back again on his Banshee.

It seems the DS dropped out after the 6th stage, anyone know why? spectacular crash maybe? The dakar.com webpage doesn't seem to give all that much info.

A Yamaha will win it class in the Dakar. The question is will it be the Banshee or Raptor? The DS did start stage 7 and did make checkpoint 1 and that is all. This is the toughest off road race in the world. He may have crashed, broken down or got sick. They even try to kill you one support car hit a land mine this year. I thought the booby traps in the Baja were bad.

 

Raptor dropped out today only the Banshee left.
