Default Fixing to get into mx quad racing

Hey whats up guys, First off I am not entireley new to quad mx racing. When I was in high school I raced in a couple of races for TQRA on a new banshee I bought and spent round a grand on it trying it get a little more out of it. Then I went off to the Marine Corp and sold my banshee. I am now looking for a good quad to start back up racing with. I am looking for something that is race ready or almost race ready. What would be a really good and durable quad that well keep up with everyone else. I am currently looking at a few 400ex's that have been bored 40 over with stage 2 hot cam, port and polished heads, reed valves, and that whole nine yards. I was just wanting ya'lls input on what quad would be good for me. I'm not wanting to spend too much at first with a quad, proballe at least upder $3,000. what whould you recomend and why? NOW about me,,, im 5'8", 175lbs, very athletic build, and i ride anything with a motor ***** to the wall. Thanks for the input. later

I would look for something with more suspension work than motor work to get started. You can usually find some good 450's with all the suspension goodies pretty reasonably.

yeah, i was kinda leaning tward a 450 as well. i was looking at a few last night and found a couple of what seemed to be good deals, sum of them already had some motor work done and most of them already had elka shocks also. but the 450's that i looked at were around 3,200 to 3,800. ya think that is a fair price? I know the 400ex's are usually a lil cheaper ususlly betewwn 1,500 and 2,500. thanks for the advise though
