What are the fastest ATV's from the factory?

his left leg is like 350 lbs...
gotta be really careful riding with him- he's been known to eat riders for snack.
That's why I have to have a faster atv- just to survive moose rides!

The Rincon has about the same horsepower as the 500s that everyone else makes. The simple fact is it's way underpowered no matter what you weigh. All Honda non-sport ATVs are. To have the power of another brand's 650-680 a Honda would need over 800cc.

Very well could have been bottoming out. But, with no adjustment I couldn't stiffen it up for my massive mass. At least the Rancher I rode the next day with a 5 speed transmission had a nice low gearing in 1st and 2nd. That 420 (also with non-adjustable shocks) was a lot easier to ride than the Rincon. Then again, I think the Rancher had power steering too. One of the things I really didn't like on the Rincon was that the steering was very stiff. Almost like someone tightened the steering column too tight or something. I've been on some of the heaviest quads out there and none had steering as hard as the Rincon. Might have just been the one I rented out in Utah.

Just remember, you only have straight line acceleration in your favor. I actually prefer the 62 HP 650 to the 800 or 1000 in the corners. It doesn't lighten up the front end so much as the two big boys. I can punch the throttle in a corner. Little more finesse needed for the 800 or 1000.

on "perfect" roads/conditions? I would think since they are ATVs we would want to know how fast they can go under many different conditions. So in the end maybe the "fastest" machine isn't the one with the most HP or fastest 1/4 mile time on a flat, straight road but the one that can handle all that is tossed at it. Just a thought cuz i can't get my machines over about 50 w/out starting to get concerned about the next dirt rut, rock or loose soil around a truck induced rut. Or when i travel on grass over about 2-3 feel, i can't remember every large rock or tree stump so i have to be able to travel as fast as i can while leaving enough room to manuever, I usually stand for this type of situation to get the birds eye view. I think the machine that has the best handling all around can be the fastest all else being equal. You've probably seen this video but it gets the point across.
(Preview) 500 comparison. Just a thought.

Seeing how the federal government years ago made ATV Manufactures put chips in quads limiting their speed to 74-75mph. So unless you put in a aftermarket ignition no amount of stock horsepower is going to get you past that point.............

Strange the government cares if a ATV goes over 75 but do not care if a stock snowmobile does 120 right off the showroom floor.
So the question now is what ATV gets to 75 in the least amount of time?

For the hyper bore class (1000cc) you won't beat the renegade. The gade 1000 is the fastest bike out today.

Sorry TLC, but I do agree with HondaR24. I have personally ridden virtually every pure sport, 700cc and under (2-wheel drive) except the KTM 525 and 505, and Can-am 650. Perhaps a few others. While the Honda 700xx may not get the hole shot, once it gets rolling, look out. It is faster than any other quad I have ridden from any of the Japanese brands or those from Polaris (there were differences between Polaris and KTM). Horse Power is a funny thing, often misleading and means nothing if you can't get it to the ground. Have you even ridden a Honda 700xx? Unless you have ridden several makes and models how can an evaluation carry any weight. I would wager that most of the opinions on this thread are from people that have had experience riding 1 or 2 machines, or based on what they have heard others say. In my experience, I don't think I have ever ridden a quad, 1985 and up, that I didn't like. They all had something to offer, obviously some more than others. And like Poquad498 says, how many of us ride in perfect conditions or on perfect roads. Now, with all this said, the fastest quad I have ridden in a quarter mile is the Suzuki LT500 followed by the Honda TRX700xx. Since neither is in production any longer, the king (since it is STILL in production) would be the Yamaha Raptor 700. Again, this would be for completely stock quad currently in production with displacement of 700cc or less in a quarter mile.
