This may sound like a stupid question but I've seen mag. articles on how you adjust from riding a 2 stroke to a 4 stroke but I'm doing just the opposite. I've ridden 4 strokes all my life and am converting to 2 strokes. I just started practicing on my new macnine and my lap times are horrible and its my riding I think. Can any of you who ride both give any advise on how to go fast on a 2 stroke? How do I change my clutch working, throttle control, etc. I realize practive is the best way to get faster but any advise couldn't hurt.

My best advice on the 2 stroke is to just stay "on the pipe". Meaning keep the RPMs high enough to keep the motor in the powerband. The 2 stroke requires allot more clutching to be fast on the MX track. Most beginner 2 stroke riders rely on staying in a lower gear to be "on the pipe", however this just slows you down and over reeves the engine. Try staying in a higher gear and using the clutch to keep the RPMs up.
