Alright, I have never raced before but am preparing for my first one. I'll be riding the 100 miler in Lucerne Valley late October, then I am thinking about doing the Las Vegas 200 on Dec 1st. My Raptor has triple rates on the front, revalved rear, full skids, nerfs, full pipe, jetting, airbox mods, 2 + 2 lonestar. I have not done any engine mods. Assuming I am fit enough to go the distance what else should I prepare for? What extra parts? Any other advice is appreciated.

Chris Get the IMS 5 gal desert gas tank for the Raptor. Then get as many extras tires and wheels sets that you can afford the more the better. Get at least one extra set of tires and wheels. I have known people to have as many as 6 flats in races of 100 to 200 miles of racing.

Just thought of one more thing make the tires 6 ply ITP XCT or Maxxis RAZR.

What race is in Lucerne valley? What organization and what date? As far as set up goes make sure you have a spare filter. Bike prep is the most important thing in a distance race. You can have the trickest parts on your quad, but it wont do you any good if you brake down because you forgot to lube a bearing or tighten a bolt. If its your first race your main goal should be to finish then you decide what you need from there.
