i have been in 5 mx races. i have bent my bars everytime. the first 3 times they were the stock bars. Then i bought a cheap pair of msr from the dealer (this is all they had). The grooves in the bar didnt match up to the stock holders. I used them anyway, so i could keep racing. I need some help on which bars i should use that wont bend. Should i use a different mounting kit?? Any help would be greatly appeciated. Thanks

You get what you pay for with handlebars. That's why you end up bending the cheap ones so often.

My suggestion is the Pro Taper bars. They do require a mounting kit. Both pieces usually run about $130.00 to $150.00

My second choise is the Renthal bars that do have the cross bar. They run about $85.00.......Renthal makes a bar similar to the Pro Taper, but hasn't shown itself to be as durable.

A bigger question might be why you are bending your bars. Are you crashing that often????

no i have never accually crashed. i have came up a little short on a couple of doubles but i just cased those. i think the biggest think is that the stock mounts cant hold them in place. i am not bending them out i am bending them down toward my knees. if that helps any

KNOWSALOT - I was talking to some guy about handlebars and he was telling me that TAG bars are the absolute best that you can buy. He was with one of the racing teams/companies that go to the races but I can't remember the name, but anyways, he said he has personaly watched a stress test on the TAG's vs. the Pro Tapers and that the TAG's held up better. The TAG bars have a little more give in them which also helps soak up some of those hard flat landers. They're a little cheaper than Tapers but thats only because you would just be buying the name w/ the Tapers.

Oh and he sold both brands too. He could make more money selling the Tapers but most of the racing teams/companies at the tracks seem more interested in you doing good on the track than they do the money.

If you are landing that hard. You might be thankful the bars are bending. Something has to give and it might be better that the bars give than wrists/forearms! Have run Tags and Renthals both the crossbar type. Bent both of them crashing hard...very hard! I turned the tags down in the clamps off a big double that I cased it sucked and made it hard to ride the rest of the race. I am going to switch to the oversize bars soon? Just dont know which brand answer, renthal, or tag.

Most mx quads run cr high bend pro tapers or tag. You really cant go wrong with either one

thanks for all of the great input on this. Is there a better aftermarket mounting kit that i should get or just get the bars that will fit in the stock mounts.

Whne you get a adapter kit for the fat bars go with the fly adapter kit. Its is about 15 dollars cheaper then the Pro taper kit.
