I'm gonna resist the temptation to reccomend cleaning it up really good & trading it in on it's big brother...oh darn, I think I just did!
Seriously, after market suspension, big bore kit, pipe, tires possibly. Those items would keep you out of the way of other machines, at least. I assume you're referring to MX. Also, wider A- arms, longer swing arm, depending on the type of
racing.
Of course, if you want to just have fun and not really focus on winning, just get a good pipe & modify your air box/filter system and go race!

don't mind that guy the 300ex needs a pipe and dynjet kit k&n filter and new turf tamers or may I recomend ITP new holeshot mx tires I have them on my 250r great tires I also recomend amp link and a white brothers black box to move the rev limiter up some

If you are looking for a strong pulling bike with a good midrange, without spending A lot of money. Go to a high compression piston, A good headpipe and headder, mid to high rev cam, and a good set of aftermarket clutches should get you off to a good start.
