Hi,
Recently, I bought a Z400 and now i have a problem modifying it. To be honest, my experience with quad modification is quite low. So i would appreciate any kind of help I can get relating exhaust pipes to any limit u guys can take me to. I have a series of local races coming up soon. So i really need all the help i can get, plzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. By the way, I have an open budget for this project.
P.S. this is my first request at this forum.
Sincerely,
Moe...

well one way is get k/n air fliter to open more air flow to carb also you would have to rejet it.
For the pipe almost everybody got it now like Trinity,LRD,MBRP,White Bros, and so on.... Do little research and see what would best for you to get beside racing.
Also better shock would be very helpful like Custom Axis, elka,PEP.
Strong rear axle like RPM,Durablue,Lonestar.
Good luck

What do you mean "I have a problem modifing it" are you saying that you don't know what parts to buy,or what brand of parts to buy? You said there were some races you wanted to go to;what type of racing? If more than one which type will you be doing more of?Do you want to modify the engine or chassis or both?

I like everything desracers said with the exception of the K&N filter. The foam filters offer better off-road protection. However if you don't mind rebuilding a little more often go with the better flow of the K&N

I like what all the guys have said to you so far but i feel the way to go is as follows.
1. suspension, shocks ,a- arms, and axle. either pep, axis , or tcs for the shocks . A-arms go with Laegers, Lonestar, or Denton. Axle, Lonestar, or Dura blue
2 Bolt on Mods fror motor, Pipe and filter (not one or the other both toghether based on my discussions with motor guys). Cam, and High rev ignition. Pipe and filter I have heard the CT, LRD, White Bros and FMF are all good stuff.
3. Motor worK. Porting and possibly a big bore kit . Depends on your riding and what you want to dowith it. Go with a reputable company It is worth it to spend a little extra the first time . I know this first hand I went with a local motor shop and 2 blown motors (after 5 minutes of riding each time ) later I will never look to save a few bucks again. Ask around and find out who went where and how their bike has held up.
4. If you plan on racing you will need the following, Kill Switch, Nerf Bars, Skid plates for XC, Tires I suggest holeshots for both XC and MX, number plates , etc. check where you will be riding for there requirments .
Thats my suggestions, oh yeah I forgot Include a steering stabilizer under suspension you wont regret it. I listed suspension first because of one simple rule, unless your just drag racing all the power in the world is useless unless you get the power to the ground. I hope this helps . The different brands are just my persona choices but you go with whatever you like.

<Ridley> You must own an RPM axle because that sounds like a biased opinion. I have NEVER heard of anyone "stripping" a Lonestar or "bending" a Durablue. Not to sound like an A-hole, but just because YOU own an RPM doesn't make it the best.....so this "piece of junk" Durablue I use was a bad choice??? I don't think so......

Your obviously speaking from experience...so I retract anything I said before. My Durablue has held up for me so far, but if I do end up breaking or bending it, then I will take your advise and go with the RPM. After all, thats what this forum is all about...Riding and Racing experience with different products and their evaluations...We still good???
