Desperate for a particular replacement lens (I tried every local and mail-order retailer available without success) for a certain model of Scott goggles, I called Scott USA in Ketchum, Idaho.

"Joe" at the Scott USA headquarters confirmed the part I wanted was obsolete, would not likely ever be in future production, and no known retail stocks existed. A dark moment.

Joe then said he'd check around the warehouse and see what he could find. I thanked him for his kindness, hanging up the telephone with more despair than hope.

In a few days, Joe called me, saying he found the "last of the last" lenses I sought; I now have them mounted in my goggle frame.

I am humbly grateful an oranization the size of Scott USA would take the time and effort satisfying my very minor customer requirement. Some less-sensitive companies would have dismissed my request with, "Sorry; that part's been superseded," and, as H. Ross Perot might say, "end of story."

Now, whose goggles do you think I'll wear the rest of my riding career?

A refreshing example of inititive above and beyond the man's job description.Proof that customer service isn't entirely dead, just dormant in these days of self service ala Wally World, et al.
Altho Scott has a web site they apparently don't publish their e-mail address. It would have been nice to forward this thread to them.

Just goes to show how much of an impact one single employee at the bottom of the food chain at a company can affect the image of that company.

Is that the model carved out of a solid piece of Hickory in the shape of a small set of moose antlers with the bee’s wax lens seal?

The exact model, trx430ex; you know how it is--anytime the manufacturers come out with anything any good, you can bet they'll soon stop makin' it! Pity, too; the skilled workmanship involved in creating products of this quality will NEVER be replaced; we'll all be wearing genuine synthetic mass-produced "Made In China" equipment soon.

Now hear this: If you even THINK you're gonna talk me out of the spare backup new-in-the-box set I obtained, well, FORGET ABOUT IT!

Alright, now you have my interest. What model goggles are they? Why are they so good? I wear Scott's too and love them.

I hope Arnette is as kind as Scott. No shop in the entire city of Las Vegas, which includes about 15 shops, carries Arnette tear-offs.
