Default Polaris Outlaw KTM 525 at working the Little Coal River Trail System

A short video from the Bumper mount on an Polaris Outlaw. This quad is powered by a KTM 525cc racing engine. Its a pretty wild ride and with IRS it runs smooth. See what you think. I actually had someone ask if I sped the video up at the 2nd half, I did not. The owner told me the top end on this quad was 90mph. Enjoy

Those are crazy fast. Funny how that last big puddle cleaned the lens off.

Default Fast Friday

I know what your saying, it blows the water right off. The crazy thing is after our trip he sold the outlaw and got a CanAm 2012 Renegade 1000cc. Can't wait to get some video from it , hopefully this week. We have our local Turkey Ride 2012 this Friday.

Renegade 1000s are also scary fast. Was watching a video where the guy was going along at about 30-35 mph and he saw a depression up ahead and goosed the throttle to "pick up" the front end enough to clear it with the front end. He ended up on his back with the quad rolling to a stop. It wheelied doing 35 mph with a stab of the throttle.

Me, I'm happy with the 650. Plenty of power and about as good on gas as my old Polaris Sportsman X2 500.

Default ATV Power

I'm with you ,at a price tag of 12999 I think I will ride my 05 Sportsman 400. Just right for me. I would always take a 500 HO Sportsman as well. I have been told that Polaris tones the power curve on their Sportsman Quads to make them safer to protect the rider. CanAm just gives raw power. Crazy power. I think it would scare me.

I have friend that have 800 and 900 RZR's and those look fun.

Thanks

I was pretty happy in most situations with the Polaris 500. Great for chores, etc. But, it lacked going up wide open trails that were steep. Would top out at around 35 mph in those conditions. Also, the same idea when snow riding on packed trails in the winter. Would top out at 35 or so on the long wide open uphills. Got the 650 this summer and am looking forward to snow. On the open trails of Northern Maine this past summer it was nice to have enough power on tap to break loose the rear end on corners. Lots of fun.

Default Sportsman

Yea I know that I always wished i had alittle power more climbing hills. The new sportsmans are all 550cc and that might be just right. I have not tried much snow riding. Indiana get a mixed bag of weather so it could be snow, rain, ice, or all of the above. I almost got a 2011 leftover Sportman 550 HO LE with PS. Black Paint. too, but the difference in money was too much. Maybe we can get some snow to ride in soon.

i love my outlaw, its the 08 model which in my opinion is the best looking style. i would have to comment that 90mph might be a little much. i do believe it will bust 80, i dont know how far over that it will go. my gps read 83 but we all know they can be unreliable. great vid but it dont do it justice, when you get it wound out on the trails and the suspension just rolls over rough spots its like your floating on air. thats just my view, other experiences may vary

This was my Brother-in-laws ATV. The guy he sold it too claims 90 but I didn't see it so. His was a black 2007 KTM 525. Just sold it for $3200 for a CanAm Renegade 1000cc. The KTM was cool except for the frequent mait on the engine. His also has IRS but I heard the straight axle has alot more top end. In the video you can see it float over the puddles. I don't have the guts to ride that fast. Did you see the Outlaw climb the Big Hill?
