Default The last quad ride, 2012.

Saturday, I went north with my brothers and Raptors. We met 3 other Raptor guys up there. We rode an ORV route which is wide, fast, and smooth with plenty of corners. One guy crashed and broke his thumb throttle and had to be towed back. He is a little sore still today but has nothing broken. We had a blast.

Love riding in the snow. Good video.

Do they let you ride the trails when it's deep enough for sleds?

ORV trails can be ridden year round, snow or no snow. The trail we were on Saturday is a shared snowmobile trail in the winter, and a ORV "route" in the summer. I think it is legal to be on the 20 mile section of the route in the winter on a quad but you would not be very popular with the sledders and I wouldn't advise it. Thanks!

Up in NH they've opened up a few areas for winter riding that share the trails. I can't afford both sleds and quads so the quads are a pretty natural choice for us. We can ride all year except for March 1-May 23 or so depending on conditions. Haven't seen too much animosity from snowmobilers. We always get as far over as we can when we hear them coming. The local communities are happy to see the ATVers on the years there isn't so much snow up this way.

Most snowmobile trails in MI get groomed often, I am not a snowmobiler so I am not an expert, but some trails get groomed every night. Anyway, they are very protective of their trails, and will call the law if ATV's or trucks are found on their trails.

I guess I can't blame them, their season is just a few months long around here, and the truck tracks really do screw up their trails.

On a groomed trail the quads don't real do much if any damage. We were up in Warren, NH 2 winters ago and if you let your outside tire get caught in the soft snow you were done. Off the packed snow it was about 3-3.5' deep. We used winches at least a dozen times. We never broke through the actual groomed trail. Most of the guys we stopped and talked to were cool about it. The restaurant owner in town that you could ride right up to the door was even happier.

Same up here in Sault Ontario. No ATVs allowed on groomed sled trails, but sled rider pay $250 a season for that right.

In the sled off season of 9 months, ATV get to used the same trails for free so its pretty fair.
