I call that a gravel road , a trail to me is something a 4wd truck could not get down and no ATV could get over 25mph before its sent into the trees.
Here is what a call a trail , something that does not allow anything over 52" wide to fit down, let alone come face to face with a Mini-Van.

I've gotten up over 40 mph on the straight dirt trails- the back woods trails maybe average anywhere between 15-25 mph-
but in the northern new england mountain trails I'd be lucky to get over 5-10 mph.
my definition of a trail is "anything that's not a road"
here's how the average trail looks around here from our rides... although, the 1000 rotax gets me up to speed quite fast on the short straights between washouts and is magical for catching some good air over berms and ruts

Depending on where you are on the trail where we ride at, will determine how much room you have. Some parts, it's like a 4 lane of sand. other parts it's a challenge to fit between the trees.
But no matter where we were, we never had a truck go flying past us.
