Default Trade in prices?

My EX goes in the trader this Friday. I thought it was going to be in there on last Friday, but I gues I was wrong. Here is what I need to know, how much do you think a Honda dealer would offer me on trade for a 400EX (2000 model in very good condition, regularly serviced, 4 new Ohtsu factory tires)? The reason I ask this is because I have it listed in the trader for $3000 and I'm wanting a 450 Foreman. Most of the dealers around here only have a few of the 2003 models left. I'm going to go the 2003 model to save a few hundred and don't want to miss out on the few 03's remaining. I also just put new Ohtsu tires on all 4's $300. Kelly Blue Book is saying $2500 on trade. Any dealers, mechanics, salesman, etc. Have any idea of what they will normally give on trade for a 2000 400EX. Also what book do they go by? I asked them to give me a ballpark figure on the trade in price over the phone and they said they wouldn't do it without viewing it. I don't want to drive 125 miles one way to find out that they will only give $2000 on trade. Help me out guys.

What you'd like them to do is go down on the price of the 450 first. Then take off the trade in value of the 400ex. But they probably won't, they'll take the $2500. off from the trade. So if they would have taken say $1000. off first, you might lose that $1000. and only get the $2500. off. It's better if you can sell your quad first then get them at a low price. Then put the money from the 400ex down.
I know you feel pressed for time but don't forget that Honda has lowered the 2004 retail price from 6199. to 5799. on the 450. It would be great if you could get $3000. for your 400ex and then put it towards the cost of the 450. I wouldn't even tell them how much you plan to put down until a reduced price is agreed on.
Something to think about- If you're married or live with someone that has never bought a quad. Honda will later pay a first time buyer $100. to take their 4 hour safety course. Just put it in their name.
