Default Is this a decent deal?

Since this is my first post, I would like mention that I have found this forum extremely valuable. I have been searching it for the past two weeks on information about certain ATV's. Now to my deal.

I have decided to get a new 04 TRX350TM and wondering if I have negotiated a decent deal. Local dealer has quoted me 3900 OTD price. Another dealer quoted me 3700 OTD price, but I would have to pay shipping as they are 4 to 5 hours away. I have been looking for used ones in ex/vg condition maybe 1 to 2 years old, but they are hard to come by and usually want more than more value. My estimation is that only 500 to 700 dollars seperates them from a new one.

I question I have is does 3900 OTD sound pretty good. I am sure they is probably another 100 I could get them down, but I would really like good dealer support if I ever have any problems. They are already 250 lower than the 3rd dealer I have been working with.

Thanks

Refresh my memory - is the TM the 4x4 Rancher or the 2x4 Rancher? ES or manual shift? That is a good deal if it is a 4x4 quad - if it is a 2x4 Rancher you can do better.

That would be the 2x4 model.

Myself I would rather pay more and get the new model versus the used unless you would just happen to know the previous owner. In my area of the country that would be a good price because if you don't want the machine the dealer will simply wait till the next person who walks in does. Supply and demand.

I would also purchase it from the dealer who you feel most comfortable with but unless its a freak thing the rancher model you have chosen and being the shift model is almost problem free and I would venture to say you might give it a problem before it has its own.

My neighbor has one of the first 1999 models and it looks like heck but it the thing keeps on ticking. The only thing I can recall with his machine was there was a recall on the first run with something to do with the ties rods or something on the front end which was fixed by the dealer, i just can't recall what it was right now.

If you get it have fun those 2 x4 models are as fun as some sport machines.

The 2004 Rancher 2x4 semi-auto has a retail price of $3899.00. The Rancher has new plastic for 2004 and it is still 2003 so the dealers will be less likely to go down on the price. When you write that the difference between a used Rancher and a new Rancher is around $500. to $700., the cost could be greater in the long run for the used machine depending on how it was treated. You could spend a few hundred on tires alone. Also, the 2003 Rancher's had the old plastic style and were selling well below the retail price. I don't think that anyone should ever pay an OTD price that is above the retail price but there are dealers that will charge above retail. Considering that it is a 2004 model with new plastic, I would say that it is a good price but not great. You might be able to get them down another 100 or 200. It never hurts to offer a lower price because all they can do is say no. If the dealer is close or you trust them more than others then it may be worth paying a little more.

I'm not sure how you plan to pay for the quad but it is a little funny how people try to get a dealer down a couple extra hundred on a price but then end up paying hundreds more on interest for a loan.
Example: Price-$3900.00, 5.9% rate, 5 year loan, $75.22/mo payment, interest $613.00 and a total cost of $4513.00.

I appreciate the feedback. I like the dealer and they are very close to my house. I am going to ask them to throw in a cover or ramps or something to close the deal. Hopefully will have an ATV soon.

I would begin by trying to get them down on the price and then ask if they'd throw in something extra. Does anyone in your area have new left over 2003 models? You could probably get a really good deal on a 2003. I'm not sure if Honda is running any rebates or special interest rates right now.
