From Dirtbike to ATV....
#1
WHats up people,
Currently I own a 2000 RM 125 dirtbike, and I saw some guys ripping it up on ATV's and it looked like a lot of fun...
I love dirtbiking and all, but I need a change been doing to long, so I was wondering since you guys are prolly the most reliable people when it comes to choosing an ATV maybe you can help me out.
IM planning on keeping the bike through winter, then next spring I would like to do a trade or something at a dealership (think they'll do that???), cause my bike runs fine and is fairly new, Im not looking for a brand new ATV just something at around the same value as my dirtbike $3500 - 4000 Canadian...
I want do alot of trail riding, maybe some jumps, i need something reliable (preferbly 4 stroke), something that can take a beating. I have never riden a sport ATV so i dont know what they feel like it but i looked into some of them and Im thinking around the 400 cc range would do me good. Do you guys have any advice on a good one, Yamaha Suzuki Honda Kawasaki... something fast that can handle the woods, cause I know my bike is tuned for crazy motocross and when you hit the trails it really sucks, it has no low end and struggles through tight turns and spots.
Thanks,
Dirty kid

One of the 400 class bikes is a good choice. The Honda 400EX is dead solid reliable, but has a more low tech (XR400) air cooled engine and no reverse. The Suzuki Z400 handles a little better, and has a more modern DOHC liquid cooled power plant. Both are great trail bikes, and pretty good jumpers.

I like the honda 400ex, and you can find a bunch of them around for that price. But I would sugguest the Z400, Kfx400 because they offer more power. But they will be harder to find in that price range.
Yes some dealerships take trades.

as stated before the dealerships will rip you when trading...go and find out how much you can get for it for trading (say like 2500) and then put it up for sale for like 4000 that way you can dealer with the people that want it instead of getting jerked around at the dealers
