Need a trailer for ATV-12, 13 or 15" tires
Any recommended type trailers. Looking at 5x8 or 5x10. Most are 12" tires, some 13" and even less 15". I know 15" is the best but is it necessary on a 600lb ATV. Will the others handle highway speeds of 65mph for 3 hours or more. This would be the exception not the norm in my going places but want to cover all bases. Some deals I found were 15" tires, 3500 lb axle, 2x8 treated boards, rold gate, and V tounge with center bar for $800. 5x8's with 13" tires, 200lb axle for $669. I would say the first deal is better but is it necessary. Thanks. May need to buy tomorrow so all help appreciated.

I would go with the 15 inch tires. I had a 4x8 with 12 inch tires and my truck has 16 inch. I had 3 blow outs in one summer. A freind of mine owns a gas station said the tires was heating up. So i went with a new trailer 5 x14 with 15 inch tires. No problems as of yet. (also the longer trailer backs up a whole lot nicer!!!!) Hop this helps you.

Just bought a Big Tex trailer - 5X10 2X8 PT floor, 3500 axle, v tongue, full width 4 foot ramp with tongue jack and 15" tires and white wagon wheels for $800. I researched it to death, and Big tex makes a real nice value trailer. Look them up on the net and then find a dealer to check out. I think you'll be impressed. Good paint with fancy pinstripes LOL.
Get the 15's if you'll be doing any high speed towing. You'll be able to sell it easier too.
PS I could have gotten a 6 1/2 X 10 for $200 more, but didn't have the room to store it. If you're near Pennsylvania the place is in Denver, PA, called MGS Inc.

I myself will be looking for a trailer soon , im going to get a 16' tandom utility . Around here they go for $725.00 You can get one with a rear loading ramp for 850. This way you can haul 3-4 quads on it sideways. You might give that some thought

Hi, I have a 5x8 trailer, 1500lbs axle and 13" tires. I travel up to MN. in the spring and back to AR. in the fall 950 miles each way going 75 mph on freeways. Been doing this with either a motorcycle or atv weighing between 500 to 600lbs for the last 4 years. Pulls great and no tire problems at all. Lots of tread left. lol

say usually the reason a tire heats up is low tire pressure ,too much flex in the side wall . i have 3 trailers one tandem axel 16x8 i extended the side to make it 8 ft wide can fit 5 full size wheelers on it the next one is a 6x12 single axel 15 inch tires on the 2 large trailers and the small one is 4x8 for one wheeler. never had any problems with the small 12inch on my small trailer or the 15inch on my big trailers . i just make sure the air pressure is at the proper reading .. its just like your wheeler would you go and ride it with a half flat tire and expect it to handle like it should??
